I am becoming an old man.... I really needed to find something that was challenging and new. After some tragedy and some for thought I joined this gym. Now I go like 3-4 days a week. I miss my bjj family on the off days. This place is winding my clock back and giving me a whole new skill set.

I did the 6 weeks program. It was hot easy but with the help of Evan and Mike, I dropped 26 pounds in 6 weeks.

RCJ Machado Jiu Jitsu at The Colomy is a great academy to train. I've literally trained all over the world and find RCJ a very enjoyable experience.
If I had young children, I would enroll them. The kids class seem fun and the kids are rolling well.
The adult classes are divided into two types, beginners and advanced.
I highly recommend the school to those that are looking for quality instruction, "leave your ego at the door", and friendly people. I'm way too old for the "try to kill you" mentality at some schools.
I'm enjoying the experience and it is the right pace for me.
This is an excellent facility run by a great group of people! My son has been in their after school program and summer camps for 3 years and he absolutely loves it!
I never worry about his safety and Mr. Manley and Mr. Thompson have created an environment where the kids learn morals, team work, and the value of hard work. Every instructor and office staff member is committed to each and every child that walks through the door.
The after school tuition is extremely comparable to other pick day cares if not better for what curriculum they provide. They also have fun outings which fill up quickly like Nurf War nights, field trips to movies, bounce houses, etc. I cannot ask for a better program!
I started training at this gym last year. very friendly environment and great people to train with. When J think about RCJ Machsdo, it is a place where all the good heart people gather to help each other and train together to get stronger. I'm very thankful to be part of this group.
Fantastic with kids. Very Professional. My son and daughter trained there for about 2yrs and we could not be happier with the experience.
I will preface this by saying I have trained at a number of top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and/or MMA schools across the Metroplex and many out of state including one of "big name" Gracie schools where one of the big name Gracies himself provides the instruction. No offense to the Gracies, but belt for belt and pound for pound the Machado students typically end up steamrolling the latter.
Without a doubt, the Colony's RCJ Machado academy is hands-down my favorite school in the Metroplex. The atmosphere, sense of community, and quality of instruction here is second to none. The curriculum is well structured and is taught in a logical sequence which I've found to be rare with most academies--i.e. each class is a logical progression from the prior class. The emphasis one the fine details of each technique is stellar, and you can really feel yourself improve as a fighter or hobbyist each time you set foot on the mats. Coming here is truly one of the highlights of my day that I look forward to daily.
There is also an equal emphasis on technique as well as sparring with a true 50/50 split between the 2 which is essential for continue growth in the sport. Bottom-line, if you're looking for a family-friendly (and their kids curriculum is both practical and fantastic), safe yet extremely effective place to learn the most effective combat sport, look no further.

My 9 year old daughter has been enrolled at RCJ Machado since July of 2012 and absolutely loves the instructors and art of Jiu-Jitsu. Instructors, Mr. Thompson and Mr. Madeley teach a fast-paced, fun and yet challenging class. The children learn a well-balanced martial arts curriculum (Jiu-Jitsu, kicking, punching) and also valuable life lessons about (perseverance, self-confidence, hard work, etc.).
My daughter has already won medals in two Jiu-Jitsu tournaments - and her passion for the sport inspired me to join Mr. Madeley's adult class, which I enjoy very much. I am a former Marine - and can honestly say that RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu is the best workout that I have ever had in my life!

RCJ Machado in The Colony is a great place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! My family started with an intro lesson. The staff was so friendly and made us feel so at ease about starting this new sport for us giving us all the details about how it's great for safety and exercise. All three of us decided to join... my husband who is 30 years old, myself which I'm 30, and my son who was five years of age when we joined.
My son loves it! Evan and Michael know how to instruct the kids where it's easy for them to follow what they are doing. But they also make it very fun for them by cool games to learn different exercises to help them achieve their daily goals. My son is also breaking out of his shyness because of the interaction with the other kids.
As for my husband and myself, we both have not been that active in exercising but joined because the staff was not about putting us down mentally because of that like most gyms do. My main reason I want to join was for self defense but it started to becoming so much more then that for me. It is a great way to just release some stress from a busy work day. Also, since my husband and I both are in the class we seem like we have much more fun learning this together. It's brought us closer together I think. And being that I am a woman and at this moment most people consider this as a guy's sport makes me push myself so other women can see that hey a girl can do this just as easily as a guy can.
Overall it's a great place to join for anyone at any level or age. Come on girls join the band wagon let's kick some butt! :)

World class bjj, kickboxing, and wrestling. Michael madeley is a very technical Carlos Machado black belt. Coach Thompson, a champion kickboxer and Coach Marc has over 25 years of wrestling. The beauty is there are definitely no ego's here.
I've been training with them for a couple of months. Coach Madeley is absolutely focussed on details while providing instruction. I still have problems with my English verbal communication skills but nevertheless Mr. Madeley tries to help it in as much as he can! It is the perfect place to improve your self-defense skills and your confidence as well. They honor martial arts budo giving sense to “Leave Your Ego at the Door”
Mr. Thompson has a lifetime of martial arts experience. Kickboxing and mma titles. Yet, he is incredibly nice and thoughtful to his students and friends. Mr. Madeley also has a lifetime of martial arts experience. He can break down the jiu jitsu moves into the littlest details. And the little details make the BIGGEST difference. Every time I go to class I learn how to immediately APPLY the technique. They are courteous, respectful, and will make you better.
RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu in The Colony, Texas is an excellent place for people of all ages to gain both mental and physical strength. They are very family friendly while still offering plenty of options and activities for individuals as well. I initially signed up for a family membership, so my children could participate in a sport that would help them build self-confidence and learn self-defense and self-discipline. All of which they have gained substantially and are continuing to develop from attending RCJ Machado. The instructors at RCJ Machado have an innate ability to make every class fun, exciting and even playful for the children while providing instruction and maintaining structure and control of the class. With a family membership, which happens to be a bargain for families with 2 or more people who participate in the courses offered at RCJ Machado, I was able to participate in the adult classes at no additional cost. It didn’t take long for me to become hooked and find that practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a fun form of fitness training for cardio, muscle toning, strength, agility and weight loss. With the numerous courses for all skill levels offered at various times throughout the day Monday thru Saturday at RCJ Machado, it is easy to fit in training around our busy schedules (kids’ activities, adult’s work schedules, etc.). In fact, the highlight of my workday on Tuesdays and Thursdays is taking a mid-day break from work to go choke my friends at RCJ Machado. :)

If your looking for a team that's humble, also where everyone makes you feel like family, I swear this is the gym for you. Coach Madeley is not only a great coach, but he's also a true bad ass. Coach Evan Thompson runs a great mma conditioning program and he's also no joke when it comes to stand up and on the ground. I have competed in 5 mma bouts and still get smashed by everyone here! What's even better is that my teammates take the time to show me, they teach me and helped me elevate my ground game in such a short amount of time. Try coming here for a night and I promise you won't regret, I put that.
My son has never felt so good about hard work before. He has true ownership with this program and has learned to approach difficulties with the "can-do" attitude that he cultivates at rcj machado. He is coached by Evan and Jeremy, and they have just the right touch with the kids. They encourage and praise the students for their effort and not just skill level, which makes it comfortable and approachable for those with little to no experience like my son Richie. We have seen great transformation and will be sticking with the school.

My wife, daughter, and I have been training for over a year and a half. We live fairly close and recently decided to change schools due to the proximity. We were worried about the change up but I have to admit, the guys here treat you like family on the first day. The kids classes are amazing! The adult classes are fantastic as well. I highly recommend this place. If you are wanting to learn and enjoy your experience, this is the place.
My twins (boy and girl) started about 2 years ago just after turning 4. They have learned a lot with self defense, but most important is that they have learn self discipline, integrity, and empathy. Those are traits that will make them successful. These are the values taught within RCJ Machado The Colony and I highly recommend it for any parent wishing to give your children a set of tools for their toolbox that will bring them success.
I had my first class of what I hope will be many a few days ago and I had so much fun! The instruction was great and the other students were very friendly and helpful while going over techniques, situations, and strategies. A great place to learn and practice, can't wait for my next class!
